Our Calling: “To Know God and to Make Him Known”

Vision:  To redeem, equip and release the indigenous people of Albania to reach their God-given destinies.
Mission: YWAM Albania seeks to be a reflection of God’s heart for Albania, joining in God’s transforming work in Albania and the world by:
  • Raising up, equipping, training and mobilizing a new generation of Albanian leaders and missionaries
  • Strengthening, training and restoring families
  • Championing children and providing opportunities for them to know God and to develop and display the beautiful gifts He has placed in them
  • Encouraging and nurturing the indigenous Albanian creative worship spirit
  • Partnering with churches and organizations locally and internationally
  • Planting churches, reaching the lost and helping the poor and needy
  • Pioneering new initiatives to share God’s love more effectively within the multiple spheres of society

YWAM Albania started in 1991 as a fruit of decades of prayer by Christians around the world for the small communist and atheistic nation in Southern Europe.  When the borders opened up there was an immediate response to the Gospel and a wave of revival began resulting in thousands of people being saved.

YWAMers were involved in evangelism, discipling new believers and starting churches across the country. Actually, the first YWAMers brought the Gospel to Albania way back in 1973 when Reona Peterson Joly and Evey Muggleton Heckman traveled into Albania to distribute Bibles.  You can read their amazing story of God’s love for the Albania people and His faithfulness to His servants in the book “Tomorrow You Die”.

1990’s Hundred of YWAMers and short-term teams from different countries as well as long-term YWAM missionaries came to serve in Albania.

1993 – The first DTS! Many DTS students go on to become today’s pastors and church leaders.

1991 – 2014 – YWAM Albania hosts hundreds of teams, runs a dozen DTS’s and many other training courses, plants 12 churches while partnering with many others.

YWAM Albania is located in three cities: Tirana, Durres and Elbasan.
